Mirrored Dinner: An innovative stakeholder dinner with a 300 mile long table

imageAs part of a programme with FCWL designed to develop and improve producer - buyer - consumer communications, we hosted two simultaneous dinners, one in a smoked salmon factory in London and the other in a boatyard in Cornwall.

The dinners were linked by a live video feed to allow discussion between guests at each dinner, and created the sense that the event was at one long table. Twenty-four guests with a vested interest in promoting Cornwall, its products and produce discussed their experiences over four courses of the finest Cornish produce.

With a journey time of 6 hours between Cornwall and London it can be hard to get top producers, buyers and promoters all around the same table. But with the offer of a four course meal cooked with the finest Cornish produce, and the opportunity to stay on your own patch the improbable was possible.

The event took place on Wednesday 2nd of June 2010, and brought together Cornish producers, makers, council officials, key stakeholders with leading industry buyers and experts from Fortnum and Mason, Hidden Art, Dulwich Picture Gallery and Coexistence amongst others, to discuss the potential of Cornwall’s offering.  The dinners provided a chance to exchange ideas, views and advice.

From Cornwall with Love was one of a number of projects led by Dott Cornwall aimed at communities, businesses and experts to work together to improve the economic and social environment in Cornwall.
